Digital Aerial Installation Information

Once the switch over has been complete in your area all analogue reception equipment will become redundant and you need to upgrade to digital equipment

Digital Switch By Area:

  • Anglia – 6 July 2011 (Sudbury Transmitter effecting Suffolk & Essex)
  • Meridian – 2012 (South Essex, North and mid Kent)
  • London – 2012 (London, Essex, Kent )

Digital Equipment:

Freeview is the term in the UK for Digital TV. It comes installed as standard in most modern TV and can be identified by the following logos on the box or the TV surround.

Digital Video Broadcasting Freeview Logo

If you have an analogue TV at the time of switchover, the TV can still be used to view TV via a Freeview Digi Box. This is a set top box that will receive the freeview channels and they can view on your old analogue TV.

Digital TV Aerials

Officially there is no such thing as a digital aerial, most people refer to a high gain aerial as a digital aerial. Any aerial is capable of receiving digital TV reception. However the high gain aerials have proven to give the best digital reception and are branded with the freeview logo.

A digital aerial will have the digital tick on the packaging and will also be given a benchmark from 4 to 1. Benchmark 1 aerial has been tested by the CAI and is deemed to be one the best digital reception aerials. Most aerials are branded as benchmark 2 or 3.

At AK Digital Solutions we only use benchmarked digital reception aerials and benchmarked copper insulated cable to deliver the best signal to your LCD Televisions or set top digital box.
